Former Chairman of the Executive Committee of Baker & McKenzie Christine Lagarde was elected Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund on June 28. The first woman to hold this post in the IMF’s 66-year history, she will lead the organization of 187 countries, working to foster global monetary cooperation, secure financial stability, facilitate international trade, promote high employment and sustainable economic growth, and reduce poverty around the world.
