The professorship will share its research methodology with the two existing law professorships at ETH Zurich, thereby enabling the creation of a center for law and economics. The professorship will differentiate itself by more specifically addressing legal research challenges that are important from a risk, complexity, or regulation perspective. It will contribute to the teaching of law to ETH students, in collaboration with the existing law professorships. The new professor will be expected to teach undergraduate level courses (German or English) and graduate level courses (English). ETH Zurich offers an environment that promotes and supports high quality teaching and research. The ideal candidate has an outstanding international research record. His or her research methodology has to be based on law and economics in a broad sense (including empirical methods) and his or her research focus can include any area of the law. The candidate’s educational background is either in law or in both law and another discipline. Furthermore, he or she can document an ability to teach effectively and is clearly committed to doing research in an interdisciplinary environment. Please submit your application together with a curriculum vitae and a list of publications to the President of ETH Zurich, Prof. Dr. Ralph Eichler, ETH Zurich, Raemistrasse 101, 8092 Zurich, Switzerland (or via e-mail as one single PDF to firstname.lastname@example.org), no later than January 31, 2011. With a view towards increasing the number of female professors, ETH Zurich specifically encourages qualified female candidates to apply.
